Some Forex Experiences
I tried to run a backtest for the EUR/CHF pair at a 3-pip spread with the Alpari UK quotes. Surprisingly, the backtest would simply not run, although no error messages were produced by the terminal. I tried 30-day period. Other EAs ran with no problems. What was I doing wrong?
When I back test, I let it take trades in both direction.(in each tick mode)
Because you don’t know what the trend is going to be in real life.
The only thing that I may change, Is whether or not to trade on Fridays
Right now I can only back test 1 month on all pairs, Because I found holes in the data on varies pairs. Ranging from mid Sept to the first week of Jan
Also, I do all my back testing on FXDD(200/1), Because that’s were my live account is. But if I were to perform the same test on three different platform,
I would get three different results.
I was back testing Stoch/Spike EA but always got margin call.
On the other hand when I let it run in direction of the trend it
would make a lot of money on E/A and Chf/Jpy.
Can you tell me how did you back tested that it showed profit.
What parameters and time(start from to finish time).
Now question is how to determine trend for the day or 4hours to
swith EA only in direction of the trend.
FXDD will open a Metatrader account for $500. That is what I started with.
And I withdrew $500 last week, Currently have $700
At 500, I would start with 0.01 or 0,02 lots . But its what ever you are comfortable with.
I’m running 0.03 lots on a $700.oo live account (200/1 margin) 1 Pair
On my demo, 0.1 lots on a $50,000.oo demo (100/1 margin) 7 Pairs
The past few weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of trial and error work.
Along with a lot of back testing. A couple dozen different EA’s and combination’ s
I even combined the scalper and pips versions, To see profit and risk potentials
What I have finally settled on is what I’m calling Stoch Cascade Scalper_Spike3a
Of coarse you can tell that I built these around my 2 favorite pairs. EURAUD, CHFJPY
The major differences are,
no multiplier(Multipli er = 1)
10 Max trades
5 pips
1 mm
20 risk
What this accomplishes, is
10 ways to get out of a trade quicker
takes greater advantage of the retrace curve
greater initial trades
less risk, with greater profit
It will still runaway on the big4.
But these pairs were profitable
with 1 month backtesting
usddjpy=35% usdchf=73%
usdcad=20% eurchf=106%
audusd=31% chfjpy=99%
audcad=17% euraud=760%
cadjpy=20% audjpy=76%
This is the version I will be demoing this week,
As well as running live. And yes it runs with AccountSentry.
I finally managed to do a backtest of New Stoch Cascade Scalper_Spike3a. Attached are the results. What made them so different?
I doubt it’s anything that you are doing.
If other ones are working,
Then you are doing it right.
“Don’t sweat the small stuff”

Here is an extreme example that shows up during back testing.
I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve dumped the history, And reloaded.
Deleted the entire trading station, And reloaded. But they are still there.

Yes it runs off the 1M chart.
But it doesn’t matter what chart you are looking at.
